Good day everyone. First of all, I'm glad I'm finally active in my Blogger account once again. Honestly, I don't remember having this account. Turns out, I already have an account here, which I created a long time ago during my stay in Manila. So, this time, I'll be using this account for academic purposes.
Last meeting, our teacher in Digital Learning Materials Development (DIGDEV), sir Romeo Rabajante Jr. asked us to do a write up about the Six Learning Blocks and the MISMO framework, which I'll further elaborate as I go along. These were presented and discussed last meeting. Sir Romeo asked us to have a mindset of a teacher, because my classmates and I will be applying these principles in our future teaching sessions with our future students. He has said that for a particular session, especially with the virtual setting, requires the following qualities: Research, Planning, Time management, Commitment, and Hard work. All these go hand in hand in order for a session to be successful.
Almost forgot, the Six Learning Blocks I mentioned earlier stands are the following: Acquisition, Inquiry, Discussion, Collaboration, Production, and Practice. To apply each in a real life session, it's this. Acquisition is when students listen to what the teacher is saying, and looking at the visual aids that the teacher is presenting. Inquiry is when students reflect and compare what the teacher is saying and presenting. Discussion is when students ask questions and the teacher answer them, therefore creating an interactive conversation from both parties. Collaboration is when it applies to group work. Meaning, students are being divided into groups and work together to achieve a particular task or activity. Practice is when they finally present their finished product to their teacher. And after the teacher gives the feedback, they use it to improve their performance for future performance. And last but not the least, Production is when the students apply all the teacher has taught them in their future session, especially for future teachers.
Additionally, like I mentioned, I'll elaborate the MISMO framework. M is Mindet. I is Intended Outcomes. S is Student Context. M is Modular Steps. And finally, O is Options and Alternatives. The Mindet is applied when me, as the future teacher, ponders the question regarding what's my role as a teacher, what are my skills, my view of teaching an learning, and how these can be influenced to my future students. The Intended Outcomes is applied when I ponder what my future students should learn from the teaching experience I'll do. Therefore, I must make visual aids and make activities for them to complete, so that they can test their learnings. Student Context is when I as a teacher should observe my students, from their behaviors, mannerisms, and also who are the slow and fast learners. I'll do my best to not practice favoritism and treat everyone equally. Modular Steps is when me as a teacher should decided the scope after the learning experience, and should be decided whether it's virtual or face to face. It is also applied when giving overview of the learning experience. Last but not the least, Options and Alternatives. It is applied as teachers' countermeasures, in case something bad happens. One example would be this. In case students can't join the live session due to scheduling conflicts, do a recording of that session, so that the students who weren't able to attend the live version can watch the recorded version. Therefore, everyone wins. Everyone will learn.
That's all for now. Special thanks to our DIGDEV teacher sir Romeo for making this possible. I look forward to learn more for my future teachings to my future students, alongside my classmates. God bless us all.
